Ahmedabad, in western India, is the largest city in the state of Gujarat. The Sabarmati River runs through its center. On the western bank is the Gandhi Ashram at Sabarmati, which displays the spiritual leader’s living quarters and artifacts. Across the river, the Calico Museum of Textiles, once a cloth merchant’s mansion, has a significant collection of antique and modern fabrics.

Ahmedabad is the largest city and former capital of Gujarat. It is the administrative headquarters of the Ahmedabad district and the seat of the Gujarat High Court. With a population of more than 6.3 million and an extended population of 7.2 million, it is the sixth largest city and seventh largest metropolitan area of India. Ahmedabad is located on the banks of the Sabarmati River, 30 km (19 mi) from the state capital Gandhinagar.
Ahmedabad has emerged as an important economic and industrial hub in India. It is the second largest producer of cotton in India, and its stock exchange is the country’s second oldest. Cricket is a popular sport in Ahmedabad, which houses the 54,000-seat Sardar Patel Stadium. The effects of liberalisation of the Indian economy have energized the city’s economy towards tertiary sector activities like commerce, communication and construction. Ahmedabad’s increasing population has resulted in an increase in the construction and housing industries resulting in recent development of skyscrapers.
In 2010, it was ranked third in Forbes’s list of fastest growing cities of the decade. In 2012, The Times of India chose Ahmedabad as the best city to live in in India. As of 2014, Ahmedabad’s estimated gross domestic product was $119 billion.
Ahmedabad has been selected as one of the hundred Indian cities to be developed as a smart city under PM Narendra Modi’sflagship Smart Cities Mission.
Ahmedabad University
Ahmedabad University (AU) was established in July 2009. It is promoted by Ahmedabad Education Society (AES), a Society established in 1935 which is one of the best education societies in western India. It is a self-financed, non-affiliating State Private University established under Section 3(1) of the Gujarat Private Universities Act, 2009.
University Grants Commission, vide its letter dated 28th July 2010 F.No. 8-13/2010(CPP-I/PU), has notified that Ahmedabad University, Navrangpura (Gujarat) has been established by an Act (No. 8 of 2009) of State Legislature of Gujarat as a State Private University and is empowered to award degree as specified by the UGC under section 22 of the UGC Act 1956.
Career Counselling and Placement Cell
The college has set up a career counselling and placement cell which maintains professional relations with representatives of industry. Through the career counselling cell the students are guided and informed about the various career options available to them. The HR managers of various companies are invited to the college campus to interact with the students. The students of various departments of the college are taken for industry-related visits from time to time to keep them acquainted with the latest developments in the economy.
Members of the Students’ Counselling Cell will be available on every working Wednesday at the Bursar’s Chamber from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Students seeking help/advice on academic matter as well as other matters may contact this cell for support services.
Recently, a campus drive has been done by ICICI Bank for the post of ‘Sales Officer‘ and they have selected four students from our college.

The industrial units are now aware of how much they can save or can earn more by approaching the Recruitment/HR firm. Sometimes, a consultancy activity results in fulfilling the recruitment/Placements and Manpower of the HR department.
